Speaking of IWC’s new models, the special feature is the use of the official color that fits the team’s logo – mint green. Because the team’s name is “Petroleum Team”, this iconic color is also called “Petronas”. green”.
Unlike the ceramic cases used in the two pilot models released earlier, the new model is made of lightweight, durable grade 5 titanium, a material that is also widely used in automotive engineering. Machined and sandblasted, the titanium case also has an attractive grey sheen.
The dial design continues the classic layout of the pilot series, with date and day windows at 3 o’clock, small seconds at 6 o’clock, 12-hour chronograph at 9 o’clock, and 30-minute chronograph at 12 o’clock. The hands, hour markers, scales and luminous coating are all covered with “Petroleum Green”, which is even more eye-catching with the pure black dial.
Through the sapphire glass case back, you can also view the mechanical structure, and the green special edition inscription is printed below. The watch is equipped with the Replica IWC 69385 self-winding movement with a swing frequency of 28800vph and a 46-hour power reserve.
This watch is paired with two different straps, a PETRONAS green rubber strap in the same colour as the dial and a black embossed calfskin strap. With the integrated easy change system, the wearer can easily change the strap at the touch of a button.
It is worth mentioning that the watch is only available online, with an official price of ¥62,600. It is more than 20,000 cheaper than the pilot series of the previous two ceramic cases.
